    Tuesday, September 7, 2010 Go To School Night at West School will be at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, September 7. This is the night that all parents of third and fourth graders are welcomed into the school and classroom to hear about all of the wonderful things that happen here. Third grade parents should go directly to the gym where Mr. Rongey will talk to them about some of the differences and similarities between South and West Schools and introduce the West School staff. At 7:20, the third grade parents will leave the gym to hear their child's teacher talk about classroom procedures and curriculum.   • Labor Day…School Closed

    Monday, September 6, is Labor Day School will not be in session on Labor Day. We wish everyone a safe and joyful end to the traditional summer. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday evening, September 7, for our annual Go to School Night at West.

  • Parking

    Parking at West School Now that the school year has started, you may want to know where to park your car if you're visiting the school during school hours. Parking is available on the north side of Willow Tree Lane until 2:30 every school day. At 2:30, the north side of Willow Tree Lane becomes our car line and Glencoe Public Safety will enforce the parking restrictions as stated on the roadside signs. If you are visiting the school after 2:30, you will find limited parking on Hohlfelder, north of Dundee and on Cherry Tree, west of the school.   • Starting Time at West

    First Bell at 8:35 The first bell rings at 8:35 in the morning. At this time students are permitted entry into the building and into their classroom. Outside supervision for the bus lane, bike rack and car line starts at 8:20 and students are supervised at this time. Soon, the before school clubs and organizations will start and students can arrive for these programs at 8:00. Please watch our web page on September 1, for the sign-up opportunities for the West School clubs and organizations.

  • Before School Computer Lab

    Computer Lab Opens at 8:00 Starting on Tuesday, September 1, the West School Computer Lab is open at 8:00 o'clock in the morning for students to come in and work on projects and visit approved web sites. The students are supervised by LLC staff.

  • West School Clubs and Organizations

    West School Club Sign-Up will begin on Wednesday, September 1. To see a list of the PTO sponsored clubs and organizations that will be offered at West this fall, click here: West School Club Sign-Up Sign-up will be active until September 10. Each club or organization has a maximum number of participants.We will have three sign-up periods this year. The first sign-up will be for those clubs and organizations that will run from September through December. The second sign-up will be in November and will be for those clubs and organizations that are offered January through March.   • Car Line

    The West School Car Line will remain the same as last year. Drop-off and pick-up will be on Willow Tree. Willow Tree will be one-way going east during school hours: 08:00 - 4:00. Students will exit and enter your vehicle from the driver's side of the car, closest to the curb. Drivers should enter the car line on Apple Tree to Cherry Tree and then east on Willow Tree. Please follow the direction of the West School Staff who will be present at the car line at 8:20 in the morning and again at the end of the school day.   • Transportation Update

    Please take a moment to read about some changes to our transportation guidelines. Only those students who have registered with the Board office as bus riders will be permitted access to school bus transportation to and from school. Changes in after-school transportation should be communicated with the school office only if it impacts those who are registered bus riders.   • Instant Alert Test

  • Party Dress Project Benefits Erika’s Lighthouse

    The Party Dress Project TM Boutique is a one day sale of gently used short and long party dresses for girls in pre-teen, junior and some women sizes.   • School Board Caucus Call for Candidates!

    The Glencoe School Board Nominating Committee is seeking candidates to serve on the Glencoe District 35 Board of Education. Three of the seven positions will be filled in the spring election with the four-year terms beginning immediately. Applications must be completed and filed by October 1.   • Required Medical Forms

    Please note the following medical record requirements for public schools. Should you have questions, please call the school office (South School: 847-835-6400, West School: 847-835-6400 and Central School: 847-835-7600).

    Illinois law requires proof of an eye examination by an optometrist or physician who provides complete eye exams be submitted as a child enters kindergarten or is new to an Illinois school. The exam must be completed within one year prior to your child beginning school. All forms must be turned in by October 15th. Download the EYE EXAM form here.
