Cradles to Crayons Field Trip
Cradles to Crayons: Last week our third and fourth graders volunteered at Cradles to Crayons. “Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12 living in homeless or low-income situations with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. They supply these items free of charge by engaging and connecting communities that have with communities that need.” During this two hour volunteer effort, our students sorted clothing, cleaned shoes, categorized books, and worked to create a package of requested supplies to be delivered to a Chicago area child in-need. We hope to help our students learn the importance of civic engagement and how they can play a role in supporting others who find themselves without the basics. We have been asked by Cradles to collect new socks and new underwear to be redistributed. There is a Cradles box near our front office for the collection.
