Keeping the Car Line Safe

Welcome to West School: On the first day of school all third graders were instructed on the safe way to enter and exit cars in our car line. Students were taught to enter and exit cars on the curbside. For the West School Car Line, this means that students will enter and exit cars on the driver’s side of the car, which will be the curbside. Please be mindful of our neighbors living along the car line on Apple Tree Lane and Cherry Tree Lane. Avoid blocking driveways along the carline route as you wait for the line to move forward. Be mindful of children crossing at the intersections as they walk to school in the morning, or home in the afternoon. The morning carline moves quickly, and seldom is there a backup. Our dismissal bell rings at 3:15. Students are supervised as they wait along the sidewalk on the south side of the building adjacent to Willow Tree Lane. The pick-up location is a designated area between the teachers’ parking lot and the bus lane. If you are not familiar with the layout of our traffic flow, please take a moment to drive by the school to familiarize yourself with the street pattern before the first day. After the first couple of days, our afternoon carline is usually finished by 3:30 or earlier. Weather conditions impact the time substantially. Above all, please remain patient when waiting to pickup children. Safety is first! Attached you will find the bulleted procedures.
